The West Virginia University's Forensic and Investigative Science Department has been recognized by ForensicsColleges.com as one of the Five Most Innovative University Forensics Labs in the U.S. in 2025!
During the Spring semester, third-year students in the Forensic Examiner program engage in coursework focused on crime scene processing and forensic evidence collection. Upper-division coursework includes weekly hands-on labs at the Crime Scene Complex that simulate real investigative scenarios and help students develop their skills for the field.
The FBI Evidence Recovery Team recently hosted a training at our Crime Scene Training Complex for local law enforcement agencies. The training served to enhance the knowledge and skills of first responders when responding to critical incidents. The four-day training covered topics such as crime scene management, scene documentation, evidence processing, and FBI/State/Local assets and capabilities. We recognize and appreciate the work of law enforcement and hope this training was invaluable to all the participating agencies.
