Jessica Hovingh

PhD Student

Jessica Hovingh is a second-year PhD student in Dr. Jacqueline Speir's research group. Her research focuses on the use of the hyperspectral imaging for detection and identification of physiological fluids in crime scenes.

Jessica Hovingh is from State College, Pennsylvania. She graduated with a B.S. in forensic science, biology track, and minors in anthropology and Spanish from the Pennsylvania State University in 2018. In 2021, she earned an M.S. in forensic science (chemical criminalistics orientation) from the University of Lausanne in Switzerland at the first and oldest forensic science school in the world. From 2021 to 2023, she returned to Penn State where she worked as a teaching assistant for the forensic science program. Jessica is a Ruby Fellow at WVU.
