Josh graduated from West Virginia University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forensic and Investigative Science. He started his forensic career with the West Virginia State Police Forensic Laboratory (WVSPFL) Biology Unit in 2013. While employed with the WVSPFL, he continued his education at West Virginia State University, graduating in 2018 with a Master of Science degree in Biotechnology. Josh became the DNA Technical Leader for the WVSPFL Biology Unit in 2019, adding duties as a Forensic Scientist Supervisor in 2022 before returning to WVU in 2025.
During his 12-year career at the WVSPFL, Josh performed body fluid identification testing, sample selection, and DNA analysis on hundreds of cases, providing expert testimony in both West Virginia State and Federal Courts as needed.
