2024 WVU Forensic Science Summer Camps

What is the Forensic Science Summer Camp?
The Next Generation Forensic Science Initiative in collaboration with the Department of Forensic and Investigative Science at West Virginia University will be hosting its annual forensic science summer camp for high school students.
Through both conceptual and experiential learning students will acquire the practical knowledge and skills that forensic scientists utilize in their day-to-day casework. The Forensic Science Summer Camp will focus on the fundamentals as it relates to the topics covered.

When and where is the 2024 summer camp?
Camp #1:
June 17th - 21st, 2024
9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Morgantown, WV
Students will attend sessions at Oglebay Hall (downtown campus), Law School (Evansdale campus), and the Crime Scene Training Complex (Evansdale campus).
Camp #2:
July 22nd - 26th, 2024
9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Students will attend sessions at Oglebay Hall (downtown campus), Law School (Evansdale campus), and the Crime Scene Training Complex (Evansdale campus).
Are there requirements to attend the summer camps?
Yes, there are requirements.
Students entering 11th through 12th grade in fall 2024 are eligible to register.
What is the curriculum for the 2024 summer camps?
Forensic Science Summer Camp

- Latent Fingerprints
- Death Investigation
- Forensic Biology
- Forensic Chemistry
- Crime Scene Investigation
- Bloodstain Pattern Analysis
- Crime Scene Practicals
- And more.....
Do you provide airport transportation?
Yes, the airport for pick-up/drop-off is the Pittsburgh International Airport (Pittsburgh, PA) on the day (Sunday) before camp starts and on the day (Saturday) after camp ends. Specific times for arrival/departure are provided in the registration form.
Overnight campers are not required to travel via air to the summer camp. Many campers choose to drive to our campus and participate in our campus tour on the Sunday before camp starts.

Sunday, June 16th and Saturday, June 22nd
Forensic Science Summer Camp (Camp #2)
Saturday, July 21st and Saturday, July 27th
Times will be arranged but are normally scheduled between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. for pickup and between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. for drop off.
Overnight campers may choose to be picked up after the last session on Friday (prior arrangements are required when completing the registration form).

The registration fees for the 2023 camps were as follows:
Day camp - $899
Overnight camp - $1239
Enrollment: 50 per camp
Day Camp
Includes lunch each day, a camp T-shirt, and certificate of attendance.
Overnight Camp
Includes transportation to/from the airport (if needed), six nights supervised lodging, evening activities, breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day, a camp t-shirt, and a certificate of attendance.
This does not include airfare or any other transportation costs other than what has been described.
