2021 WVU Forensic Science Camp

The Next Generation Forensic Science Initiative will be hosting an introductory forensic science summer camp for high school students (9 th –12 th grade) for one week this summer. Through hands-on, experiential learning, participants will acquire the practical knowledge and skills that forensic scientists employ in their day-to-day casework. At the conclusion of the week, participants will take their newly acquired knowledge and skills and apply them to a mock crime scene at the Crime Scene Complex.

Topics to be covered in these classes will be:

  • Latent Fingerprints
  • Firearm Evidence Examination
  • Footwear Impression Evidence
  • Forensic Entomology
  • Forensic Chemistry
  • Forensic Biology
  • Crime Scene Investigation
  • Bloodstain Pattern Analysis
  • Forensic Photography
  • Mock Crime Scenes

When: June 21st-25th, 2021

9:00 AM - 4: 00 PM

The first three days of camp will be held at Oglebay Hall on the downtown campus. The last two days will be held at the Crime Scene Complex on the Evansdale Campus.

Camp will begin each day at 9:00 AM and conclude at 4:00 PM.

Overnight camper check-in will be held on Sunday, June 20th.
Airport arrival on June 20, departure on June 26. Please see registration form for more information about flights.

Registration will open late-January.


Option 1: Day Camp—$399 per person. 

Included in the cost will be lunch each day, a t-shirt, and a certificate of attendance.

Option 2: Overnight Camp—$949 per person. 

Includes transportation to and from the airport, six nights supervised lodging, evening activities, breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day, a t-shirt, and a certificate of attendance. This does not include airfare or any other transportation costs other than what has been described.
