Forensic Identification Club
The WVU Forensic ID Club is a recognized West Virginia University Student Organization. The club was started in 2001 and currently has over 100 members. Students can join the club at the beginning of any semester. Semester dues are $5.00. The club tries to meet bi-monthly. Majors and Direct admit students are welcome and encouraged to participate in professional preparation and social activities.
Some of the activities that the club participates in are:
- Hosting speakers on various forensic science subjects to speak with the group in order for the students to gain a better understanding of the different real-world jobs that may be available upon graduation;
- Hosts a ‘welcome back’ picnic usually within the first two weeks of the Fall semester;
- Fills stockings for children served by the Salvation Army;
- Attend conferences related to the forensic profession;
- Distributes fingerprint ID kits along with the FBI at a home WVU home football game each year;
- Assists the FBI with fingerprinting children during Mountaineer Week;
- Hosts an end of the year gathering for members and their families;
- Hosts several fun activities such as bowling or movies;
- Design and sell forensic T-shirts and jackets
To join the FIDP Club Mailing list, please log-on to your MIX account and choose the group icon on the top right. Locate the Forensic ID Club and click that link. In turn, the advisor will receive a message that you are interested in joining the club mailing list and will add your e-mail to the list.

Forensic Outreach Team
Launched in September of 2006, our outreach and demonstration team has quickly become a hit with local and regional schools and community organizations. Any student that is a member of the club is eligible to participate. For more information on getting involved, contact Lori Britton.
The team performs demonstrations such as fingerprinting, bloodstain pattern analysis, ink chromatography, and other fun aspects of science as applied to forensic science. They also talk about our program and represent WVU at various functions and events. Many students also get honors credit for participation. It’s a great way to get involved!
